EuroGEO’s Research & Innovation Observatory (RIO) tracks past and ongoing Research & Innovation (R&I) in Earth Observation (EO) across Europe and beyond.
RIO is a service that combines a web-based tool with expert analysis. A team of analysts monitors relevant R&I programmes, identifies key patterns, and consults experts to validate findings. This helps the EuroGEO Secretariat assess progress across EuroGEO’s Action Groups and review the EuroGEO Implementation Plan. Over time, RIO will become a valuable resource for institutions, researchers, and practitioners.
A key output of RIO is the R&I State-of-Play Reports, which provide an overview of the latest developments in each EuroGEO Action Group thematic area. These reports highlight emerging trends, ongoing initiatives, and research gaps to support decision-making and strategic planning. The list below is updated regularly and will progressively include all nine reports.
