GEO Knowledge Hub

The EuroGEO contribution on the GEO Knowledge Hub

The H2020 e-shape project community has successfully transitioned to become the EuroGEO flagship within the GEO Knowledge Hub. This involves the creation of the official EuroGEO Community repository, serving as a centralized hub for various resources related to EuroGEO contributions. Members can contribute "GEO Knowledge Packages" encompassing software, presentations, publications, training materials, GitHub, and notebooks. The transition integrates existing e-shape project elements, reinforcing EuroGEO's visibility and collaboration. Automatic harvesting of metadata from EO catalogs ensures efficient dissemination while maintaining control for metadata suppliers. The EuroGEO Knowledge Hub aligns with the 3Cs concept (Coordinate, Combine, and Cooperate) for governance, emphasizing simplicity, flexibility, and increased inclusion. This evolution signifies a crucial step in consolidating the EuroGEO initiative, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration within the global GEO community.

EuroGEO Workshop 2024 report

The EuroGEO Workshop 2024, held in Krakow, Poland from 8–10 October, brought together the European Earth Observation community to shape the future of EuroGEO. Participants explored how to better connect with national and European initiatives, strengthen collaboration with GEO, and advance the use of Earth intelligence to address societal challenges. This report captures the key discussions, outcomes, and next steps for building a stronger and more coordinated EuroGEO.

EuroGEO White Paper

The EuroGEO White Paper outlines EuroGEO’s revised strategic direction, emphasizing unity and synergies as the foundation for action. Key elements include a renewed EuroGEO framework, pathways for a sustainable Secretariat, and a short-term action plan that sets the next steps for strengthening EuroGEO as Europe’s contribution to GEO.

EuroGEO - JRC/KCEO Expert studies on Action Groups

The Knowledge Centre for Earth Observation (KCEO) of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) has released ten studies in 2024 to assess the current status of each EuroGEO Action Group. These studies examine the groups' connections to international, national, and local policies and outline strategies to strengthen their role within EuroGEO. The goal was to evaluate the groups' status, potential policy contributions, state-of-the-art data capabilities and services provided by members and key stakeholders, and their role in advancing Copernicus.

Data management self-assessment tool

The Data Management Plan (DMP) self-assessment tool consists in a questionnaire capturing declarative information for GEO and FAIR Principles. For each Principle, an assessment matrix is proposed addressing the level of compliance and the complementarities / overlap between the FAIR and GEO principles. Once completed a final tab "Your DMP", including an export button allows you to save the Excel spreadsheet to Word file for a ready-to-go DMP.

The DMP self-assessment tool is an outcome of the e-shape project. The e-shape (EuroGEO Showcases: Applications Powered by Europe) project (2019-2023) is an European Commission funded project under the Horizon 2020 framework program. e-shape (e-shape.eu) is an European contribution to GEO in support to the European regional GEO, EuroGEO.
